We live our lives online, and with every hack we hear about in the news, it’s hard not to worry about our personal information being compromised. That’s why Consumer Reports and Common Sense Media are teaming up to help families protect themselves online. Whether you are a parent interested in protecting your family’s personal information or an educator who wants cybersecurity tools to help students, we’ll provide you with the resources you need.
During this event, the Consumer Reports team walked through its Security Planner Tool. Security Planner is a free tool that helps you browse online without being tracked, avoid phishing scams, and prevent identity theft.
Here are some other links to underscore the things we talked about during the workshop:
We also discussed a few Consumer Reports articles about determining whether you need a VPN, removing your information from people search sites, choosing a password manager, and addressing stalkerware, And we created sample Security Planner action lists for our three case studies: Brianna, Jorge, and Maya.
Finally, join CR for Data Action Day 2024! We're excited to invite you to be a part of this important event dedicated to reclaiming your data privacy. In the lead up to Data Action Day in January, we’ll also be working together
