This month, we dove in deep on our recent report (driven by Community Reporter volunteers) on errors in credit reporting with Chuck Bell, the Director of Programs for Financial Services Policy at Consumer Reports and Chi Chi Wu, a Senior Attorney at the National Consumer Law Center.
Almost half of consumers who checked their credit reports found mistakes in them, with more than a quarter finding serious errors involving debts that could damage their credit scores and limit their financial opportunities. A significant number of the more than 4,000 Credit Checkup participants also reported having difficulty obtaining their free credit reports online.
We also previewed some upcoming Community Reports work, including how we'll look at how generative AI is being used in Chatbots, and our work as Watchdogs looking at unsafe products appearing on online marketplaces.
