Stop the Scams
A National Day of
Action with Consumer Reports
and the United
to Stop Online Scams Coalition
Americans lose a whopping $148.2 BILLION a year to online scams – and the big platforms are raking it in. A Reuters investigation reported that Meta (the parent company of Facebook) projected that $16 billion of its 2024 revenue (about 10% of sales) came from ads for scams and banned goods. Meta says that estimate is overly inclusive. Either way, the ads keep running.
Consumers shouldn't have to be the last line of defense. Let's make the platforms do their part.
Join Consumer Reports and more than 20 other organizations on September 30 at 1:00PM ET for a live briefing on what's driving the rise in online scams, what's being proposed to stop them, and exactly what you can do to help.
Thank you for your RSVP.
