Many mobile apps on your phone collect and sell your precise location information without your knowledge, revealing your every move – even children. Not only could your location information be sold to data brokers, law enforcement, or even a potential stalker, corporations also use that data to make decisions about you, like whether they offer you auto insurance to what individualized price to show you.
States are taking the lead on passing laws that ban the sale of you and your family’s geolocation data. And you can help us get a law passed in your state by signing our petition supporting the State Location Privacy Act. Everyone deserves the right to go where they want without being tracked!
PETITION TO STATE LAWMAKERS
We expect our sensitive location data to be kept private, and be able to travel to work, school, worship, or a rally without that information being sold and shared with others. We urge you to introduce and pass the State Location Privacy Act, a model bill from Consumer Reports that ensures my family’s geolocation data is never collected or sold without our permission.
