In the midst of an affordability crisis, utilities in Arizona are proposing a 14 percent rate hike to generate billions more in profits at a time when their customers are struggling to pay their bills.
Join us in calling on the Arizona Corporation Commission to reject TEP’s massive overreach, and focus on lowering energy costs for Arizona residents and families.
To the Arizona Corporation Commission:
We urge the Arizona Corporation Commission to limit TEP's proposal to raise rates for Arizona residents, and challenge the company’s return on equity expectations. This proposal represents the third rate hike in this service area in just the last five years, placing incredible pressure on everyday Arizonans to keep the lights on, and cool their homes in the state’s sweltering summers. Over 160,000 Arizonans are already behind on their utility bills. A 14% increase in electric rates would increase the average TEP bill by about $196/year, pushing more households over the edge.
The ACC must reject this excessive rate increase, ensure big new energy users like data centers pay their fair share, and prioritize energy efficiency and other low-cost solutions that cut waste and reduce bills. Please listen to Arizona residents and do all you can to hold utilities accountable and bring down energy costs in our communities.
