You shouldn’t have to pay extra for today’s technology that can save your life in a car crash, as if it were a heated steering wheel or massaging seat. Yet many automakers charge hundreds to thousands more for safety features that have been proven to prevent crashes and reduce injuries.
Consumer Reports believes that no one should have to pay extra for proven safety features. And our research shows that proven safety technology doesn’t drive up the cost of new cars. Join us in calling on all automakers to make proven safety features standard in ALL vehicles, so all Americans can better protect their families on the road.
Petition to Automakers:
We urge your company to better protect our safety on the road by including proven safety features as standard on all trims of your new vehicles – without added cost. No consumer should be charged hundreds to thousands more for features that are proven to prevent serious injury or death in a collision.
Proven safety features like blind spot warning and rear cross-traffic warning are often packaged as expensive add-ons, pricing them out of reach for many car shoppers. We call on your company to review where you stand within Consumer Reports’ latest car safety verdict ratings, and work to bring all of your vehicles up to our top safety rating of “Best.”
