California’s new law requires baby food manufacturers to test their products for contaminants like lead and arsenic – and publicly report the results.  While many companies are providing easily-accessible test results on their websites, Consumer Reports and the nonprofit Unleaded Kids found that five of the country’s top store-label brands from Walmart, Target, Kroger, Aldi and Albertson’s are among the worst at providing this important information for parents.

Exposure to these toxic elements such as lead, arsenic, cadmium, and mercury have been linked to serious developmental harm in infants and toddlers. Join us in calling on these five companies to make their test results accessible and easy to find on their websites, so all parents have vital information to make informed choices when it comes to feeding their children.

Petition to Walmart, Target, Kroger, Albertson’s and Aldi

We call on you to empower parents by making information about toxic elements in your baby food products accessible and easy-to-find on your company’s website. Disclosing these test results is a vital step towards ensuring the safety of food consumed by infants and toddlers, and gives parents essential information to make informed choices. Currently, it is very challenging to find this critical data about your products, as consumers are required to scan QR codes on products and input lot numbers or UPC codes while shopping in your stores.

Exposure to toxic elements such as lead, arsenic, cadmium, and mercury poses significant risks to the neurological and developmental health of young children. As responsible manufacturers of baby food, you have an obligation to ensure the utmost safety of your products and to be transparent with consumers. We urge you to uphold this responsibility by making your testing results easily accessible on your website for all consumers, safeguarding the health of our children and building trust with the families who rely on your products.
