Artificial intelligence is quietly working its way into almost every part of our lives, including one dark corner none of us want: robocalls. To help, the Federal Communications Commission is proposing new rules that would crack down on these calls and text messages, putting more power in consumers’ hands to avoid scams and misinformation.

Sign our petition to the FCC supporting rules that would require callers to disclose that they are using AI-generated calls or texts. By making it clear up front that a call or text is AI-generated, you’d have the power to identify and avoid calls that have more risk of fraud or scams.

Petition to FCC

We urge you to take the necessary steps to protect us from unwanted scam phone calls and texts, and we support the FCC’s proposed rule requiring anyone using artificial intelligence to make phone calls or send text messages to disclose that fact to consumers. By requiring telemarketers and others to disclose that they are using AI-generated calls and texts we have more power to better identify and avoid costly scams, frauds and misinformation.
