Parents change hundreds of diapers and give as many baths in a baby’s first few years, which also means using a lot of wipes and lotion. Since these products come in constant contact with babies’ delicate skin, we analyzed their ingredients with the nonprofit Made Safe to find out what is in them and what they are made of.

Our findings were concerning: products from several popular brands contained potentially harmful chemicals, including some tied to potential cancer risks, as well as ingredients harmful to the environment. We know these brands can do better, since two companies whose products we flagged for potentially harmful ingredients have just removed them. Join us in calling on major baby brands to publicly commit to making safer and more sustainable products for babies and the planet!

Petition to Major Baby Product Manufacturers

It is critically important that your baby wipes and baby lotions are as safe as possible, and do not contain any ingredients that could cause harmful health effects. Also, your wipes should be plastic-free and biodegradable, so as not to contribute to the growing problem of microplastics pollution. Safety experts agree that the chemicals and composition of some of the baby wipes and lotions sold by your company are concerning for both human and ecosystem health. Please follow the lead of companies like Coterie and Tubby Todd’s, and publicly commit to getting these harmful elements out of your products.
