Gov. Gavin Newsom recently vetoed a Right to Repair bill for wheelchairs, a devastating action, since custom wheelchairs can cost tens of thousands of dollars and are vital for those who use them to function in their daily lives.

California wheelchair users deserve the right  to access the parts and tools needed to fix their chairs, or take them to the repair shop of  their choosing, rather than having to use the manufacturers’ costly tech support. Show state legislators and the Governor that Californians demand wheelchair users have this critical right to preserve their mobility and save money.

PETITION TO CALIFORNIA LEGISLATURE AND GOVERNOR

Wheelchair users in California deserve the right to repair their wheelchairs, saving money, time, and their mobility. Wheelchair Right to Repair legislation will allow users to access the parts and tools needed to fix their broken wheelchairs, or take them to the repair shop of their choosing, rather than having to use the manufacturers’ costly repair services. Manufacturers and special interest groups should not be allowed to obstruct this pro-consumer right.  We are calling on California lawmakers and the Governor to protect the mobility of wheelchair users by passing this important law.
