Getting Heavy Metals out of Baby Food!

Troubling levels of arsenic, lead in rice-based snack puffs

Three types of Happy Baby Organics Superfood Puffs had the highest average levels of arsenic and lead of all baby food products Consumer Reports recently tested. Exposure to these heavy metals has been linked to lower IQ, behavioral issues, ADHD, and autism in children.

After publication of our findings and a petition urging Happy Baby to source safer ingredients without heavy metals, the company has told us that in addition to testing every lot of finished products, it is committed to pressing those suppliers who do not currently conduct raw ingredient testing to test all raw ingredients. The company said it also is continuing to look for farms with lower levels of these elements in the soil.
