The current E. coli outbreak in romaine lettuce is a similar strain to the one that killed at least five people in outbreaks the past two years. Yet FDA scientists don’t have the power to fully test for the source of this contamination, thanks to weak laws that leave us all in the dark as to what exactly is causing these life-threatening outbreaks.
