Two years ago, Consumer Reports found that Annie’s Organic Cheesy Ravioli had by far the highest level of phthalates of any of the 85 foods we tested. We called on Annie’s and parent company General Mills to take immediate steps to reduce consumers’ exposure to these risky chemicals found in plastic.
Now our latest tests of 21 kids’ snack foods once again found the highest levels of phthalates in another popular Annie’s product: Cheddar Bunnies.
Phthalates are chemicals used to make plastics more flexible and can interfere with hormones. Exposure to these chemicals has been associated with a variety of health concerns - especially concerning when in products marketed to kids. General Mills must take steps to get these risky plastic chemicals out of its food.
Sign our petition now calling on General Mills to identify and address sources of phthalates in its food production and reduce consumer exposure to these chemicals in Annie’s and all General Mills brands.

PETITION TO GENERAL MILLS

Two years ago, Consumer Reports found concerning levels of phthalates in several General Mills products, with Annie’s Organic Cheesy Ravioli containing by far the highest level of any of the 85 foods tested. Thousands of concerned consumers called on your company to investigate the sources of phthalates in your products, and take steps to reduce consumer exposure.

Now Consumer Reports’ latest testing of kids’ snack foods once again found the highest levels of phthalates in another Annie’s product, Cheddar Bunnies, a snack marketed to children.

Phthalates can interfere with hormones, and continued exposure to these chemicals is a health concern. The presence of concerning levels in another Annie’s product two years after Consumer Reports first raised this issue shows that more needs to be done.

We urge General Mills to identify and address the sources of phthalates in its food products, strengthen its monitoring and prevention efforts, and take meaningful steps to reduce consumer exposure to these chemicals across Annie’s and its other brands.
