The Food and Drug Administration just banned the known carcinogen Red Dye No. 3 in our food supply, a huge victory for your family’s health. Now, we need to use our consumer power again to ban other chemical food dyes that have been linked to a range of health problems, especially in kids.

These six synthetic dyes – Red 40, Yellow 5 & 6, Blue 1 & 2, and Green 3 are used in a wide range of food and drinks, but haven’t been reviewed for safety by the FDA in decades, despite recent studies that link the chemicals to hyperactivity and other neurobehavioral issues in children. Join us in calling on the FDA to ban these chemical dyes, and let’s make our food safer for everyone.

Petition to Food and Drug Administration

In light of the FDA’s ban on the known carcinogen Red Dye 3 in our nation’s food supply, we urge you to ban six other chemical dyes in food that are linked to a range of health problems, particularly in children. Red 40, Yellow 5 & 6, Blue 1 & 2, and Green 3 were recently banned by California in foods served to school children in the state because of health risks, including hyperactivity and other neurobehavioral issues that interfere with learning. It’s time for the FDA to extend these safety protections to all Americans, and get these harmful chemicals out of everyone’s food.
