Ride share companies, like Uber and Lyft, are setting prices for rides based on complex AI pricing tools that may change prices based on what they think they know about your spending habits or willingness to pay. If you live in the greater Portland area, we need your help to deepen our investigation!

We're hosting an in-person event in Portland, where we’ll compare prices, talk to drivers, and try to get to the bottom of how these algorithms work. We’re partnering with the Oregon Drivers Union on this investigation who will be recording portions of the event. Some participants will be trained by this group to use their phones to record their ride share experiences.

Individuals who elect to participate in this consumer investigation will be reimbursed by CR for documented ride expenses they incur. Participants will also be required to sign a consent & release form, a copy of which is available here.
