Stronger fuel economy standards mean cars and trucks use less gas, so consumers save money at the pump. Consumers have already saved billions of dollars thanks to the progress we’ve made. But now, the fuel economy standards we’ve had in place for years have come under attack.
A Consumer Reports analysis showed the current standards save consumers $3,200 per car, and $4,800 per truck, over the lifetime of a new vehicle. As gas prices continue to rise, it’s critical for us to keep these standards strong.
