‍While there is a growing concern about the effects of microplastics on the environment and human health, understanding of the extent of their harm is difficult. That’s why Consumer Reports ran a crowdsourced challenge with our partner Lifeguard to work towards a quick and inexpensive test for microplastics that consumers could use themselves without special training.

We invited experts and practitioners from around the globe to help us find a solution that would advance our ability to detect microplastics in their own lives, so that we can all have a better understanding of how microplastics are entering our bodies.
