We urge the Department of Energy to update efficiency standards for at least 13 major appliances – from room air conditioners to washer/dryers – that are years behind schedule. Consumers need strong appliance-efficiency standards so we can make better choices that help protect the environment and our climate, while also saving us money in utility bills each year. Please act as soon as possible to update these important standards!
The Department of Energy sets energy efficiency standards for most of our major appliances – requiring manufacturers to produce cleaner, greener and energy-saving products. But right now, the agency is years behind in updating efficiency standards for at least 13 categories of appliances, due in part to delays and rollbacks from the previous Administration.
