I urge you to co-sponsor and pass ASAP the Stopping Grinch Bots Act, so consumers have a fair shot at buying products this holiday season at retail prices. These software bots keep tabs on thousands of retailers web pages and immediately purchase the hottest items the second they restock — where they are then sold at huge mark-ups. You can easily fix this problem like Congress did in 2016 when it passed the Better Online Ticket Sales (BOTS) Act, which banned bots used by ticket scalpers. With supply chain problems and inflation, consumers like me need a break right now from the higher prices these Grinch Bots create — please act now!
In addition to supply chain problems and inflation, consumers this holiday season face the scourge of ‘Grinch Bots.’ These bots keep tabs on retail web pages and immediately purchase the hottest toys, electronics and sneakers out from under you, where they are then resold at outrageous prices.
